Obama Picks His Inaugural Tux

The news waves have something else to fixate on: President-elect Obama's choice of an American-made Hart Marx tuxedo to wear at his inauguration.

VIDEO: YOUTUBE/MSNBC

Since I've seen, up close, how stringent Hart's tailoring standards are, I second his decision. After all, when Donna Karan decided to try and delve into menswear about a decade ago, she turned to Hart Marx to make her suits. And I've seen samples from the vault of clothes that one Buckhead haberdashery maintains for Andre Benjamin (of Outkast and Benjamin Bixby menswear fame). The consultants at Guggy's Atlanta showed me a DVD of how Hart's tailors construct and catalog attire patterned specifically for cultural phenoms like Prince.

What do you think of Obama's tuxedo choice? We'll get to his wife and daughters' clothing choices for the inaugural a bit later. In the meantime, if you're going, describe what you'll be wearing to the ball...

stringent tailoring standards are underrated - there's more to Polo than just a polo player astride a polo pony - in addition to having maybe the most impressive auto collection on the planet, Ralphie's garments represent
impeccable tailoring and the choicest textiles - if you've never seen a true haberdasher at work, treat yourself to the film, 'The Tailor of Panama' starring Geoffrey Rush - the opening scene is jawdropping

Not to name drop, but you should slip on an OFF THE RACK Kiton suit coat some time. if you're well proportioned, they fit like gloves.
