The critics are weighing in on vastly different sides on how well Beyonce portrays a character based on R&B priestess Etta James in the film, "Cadillac Records".

Some scathingly report that Ms. Knowles (-Carter) lacks any genuine spirit to bring to the role. Your thoughts?

Jeffrey Wright is a superb actor and I am a huge Muddy Waters fan but in the ads I've seen thus far Wright doesn't really look a lot like my man McKinley Morganfield. That notwithstanding and although I've yet to see the movie, I'm sure he mimics Muddy to a tee. On another note whenever I see Adrien Brody it reminds me of how much credit Spike Lee doesn't get for launching the careeers of now hugely successful actors such as Brody, the Turturro brothers, Danny Aiello, Annabella Sciorra and others. Lastly, now that Beyonce is the standard of beauty in our society, she's a huge draw whether her acting chops pass muster or not. Getting her to come on board was definitely a coup for this producer.
If "Cadillac" clears five million total after two weekends I'd be shocked. it only took in 3 mil at its opening weekend. I heard Wright interviewed on npr yesterday and they played snippets of his singing. he sounded convincing. but who wants to see a movie when the lead actress can't convince you she's not beyonce?
